At Newlife, we practice water baptism because Jesus commanded His followers to be baptized and demonstrated its importance through His own example. Baptism is a public declaration of our faith and a powerful picture of our union with Christ—being buried with Him in His death and raised to walk in new life through His resurrection. In baptism, we obey Scripture, leave our old life behind, and openly identify ourselves as followers of Jesus. It also connects us with the local church, where we belong to a spiritual family that will encourage us, walk alongside us, and help us grow in our relationship with Christ.
