We believe ministry and relationship go hand in hand. This is why doing ministry in and with our community is so vital to fulfilling our mission and vision. We have many opportunities for people to get involved in connecting with and serving others both locally and globally. Check out the ministries below to see where you would like to partner with us in fulfilling the mission of Jesus Christ.
We believe that where we live, work and play is our first and closest mission fields to serve the needs of the wonderful people around us. We have several needs based ministries that get us outside the walls of church and help us impact and encounter those around us.
- Jail Ministry - 1st Sunday of each month. Our team takes prayer and the gospel of hope and new life to those locally incarcerated.
- Clothing Ministry - Thursday's from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Provides free clothing to about 300 families a week and also for those who have suffered total loss due to fire, or displaced from their homes.
- Community House - 3rd Wednesday of each month. Our crew fixes meals, engages in conversation and prayer those who are in transitional living in our community.
- FISH - 2nd Thursday of the month. Providing food and some basic home goods to those in need in the community.
- First Class - Each Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. during their regular season. A home-school group where families can bring their children to engage in different learning and social opportunities from all over the county.
We believe that it was Jesus' command to care for those across the planet. While not all of us can pack up and go to serve, we can do our part by supporting with prayer and finances those who have felt the call to go and serve among those in foreign lands. We are so blessed to be part of a global mission - to touch the lives and souls of people we may never meet this side of heaven. Would you consider partnering with us to sponsor one or more of the mission teams below?
Casa shalom is our primary annual mission trip. It's an orphanage that was founded in 1986 by missionaries from the USA a few miles outside of Guatemala City. We have developed relationship with the orphanage and local ministries and churches to provide much needed humanitarian care and love to those in need. We partner with a local feeding program in Rejon and with a local church pastor in Tecpon.
Chuck & Lori Gipson were launched into missions out of Newlife. The goal of The JESUS Film Project is to help share Jesus with everyone in his or her own heart language using media tools and movement building strategies. The JESUS Film Project distributes the film "JESUS," a two-hour docudrama about the life of Christ based on the Gospel of Luke. The film has been seen in every country of the world and translated into hundreds of languages since its initial release in 1979. Our goal is to reach every nation, tribe, people and tongue, helping them see and hear the story of Jesus in a language they can understand. To support Chuck & Lori you can give here
Gentle Hands ministry is a a humanitarian organization that originally was a birthing clinic for urban poor women. Nursing and midwifery skills helped facilitate the births of about 6,000 babies from 1990-2005. The ministry has changed into a rescue center for abused, abandoned and neglected children. It is licensed with the department of social welfare in the Philippines and currently has 75 children in-house that are being rehabilitated and prepared for their ‘forever’ families. They have also recently opened a branch of the Gentle Hands ministry in India.
ministry involves networking with other Christian groups in Israel, church
planting and helping to bring thousands of Jews out of Russia back to the Holy
Land. Michael oversees a three-fold ministry of helping Jews come to Israel, facilitating new immigrants, and being a voice to the nations on what is needed and what is happening in Israel.
Our journey to the Congo began a long time ago! We both grew up at Kelso First Assembly and it was there that God began to speak to our hearts about missions through the stories from many missionary heroes. In March of 2009, we took a trip to Chad, Africa, with Bill and Sonia Shaw to experience a real taste of Missionary life. I will never forget the overwhelming presence of God as Michelle and I stood before a group of the first Bible school students in this country. It was in that moment I heard the Lord say to me, “This is what I have called you to do.”
